Shell announced last Monday it will more than double the output of lubricants at its Torzhok plant in northwestern Russia in 2014 from 39 million liters projected for year end 2013. The Shell complex in Torzhok, Tverskaya Oblast, which opened in October last year and produces 26 types of oils, has a capacity of 200 million liters (180,000 tons) per year of finished products and currently produces 5 million liters per month, about one third of its capacity.
Oleg Dery, regional director of Shells lubricants materials department in Central and East Europe said Next year, we expect to significantly increase the output, I hope, we could more than double it.
The company is considering an option of exporting oils from the plant to Belarus, and Shell is currently receiving the required certificates, Dery said.
Shell may also start exporting lubricants from the plant to Ukraine and other nearby countries. Exports to Western Europe, however, are not planned regarding the existing customs regime and Shells capacities in Europe, Dery said.
