Caterpillar has revised its now 106 page 3600 Series and C280 Series Diesel Engine Fluids Recommendations - Operations and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7003 (Rev. 5). This bulletin covers Caterpillar's most current recommendations and specifications for lubricants, fuel and cooling system fluids for use in these Caterpillar generator sets and marine diesel engines.
The lubricant section alone is 24 pages in length. Caterpillar fluids are described in detail and are recommended for use, although other commercially available oils meeting Caterpillar's requirements are allowed. The Caterpillar recommended oils and greases listed and described in detail include the following:
Cat DEO-ULS (Multigrade Diesel Engine Oil - Ultra Low Sulfur) (10W-30 and 15W-40)
Cat DEO-ULS Cold Weather (Multigrade Diesel Engine Oil - Ultra Low Sulfur) (0W--40)
Cat DEO (Multigrade Diesel Engine Oil, API CI-4) (10W-30 and 15W-40)
Cat DEO (Multigrade Diesel Engine Oil, API CF) (SAE 40)

The bulletin also includes information on TBN, fuel sulfur levels, charts and information on recommended lubricant viscosities for various ambient temperatures, grease application charts, use of synthetic oils, use of rerefined oils, use of Biodiesel in Caterpillar engines, and information on other fuels.
