GM dexos™ Licensed Oils List Contiues to Grow

Contrary to some industry pundits, General Motors continues to add to its list of approved dexos™ oils. When we last reported in March 2013, the total number of approved dexos1™ oils on the list was 105 and the total number of dexos2™ oils was 75. There are now 224 approved dexos1™ oils and 96 dexos2™ oils on the list.

Frost & Sullivan Study Projects Strong Lube Additive Growth

A Frost & Sullivan study finds that the global lubricant additives market earned revenues of $11.77 billion in 2013 and is estimated to reach $16.28 billion in 2020. While more expensive and safer lubricant additives boost revenue growth in North America and Western Europe, Asia-Pacific markets will see high volume growth of conventional additives.

Quaker Chemical Acquires Grease Manufacturer ECLI Products

Quaker Chemical announced last Friday that it has acquired ECLI Products, LLC, a specialty grease manufacturer, headquartered in Aurora, Illinois for $52 million. The company specializes in greases for OEM first-fill customers across several industry sectors, including automotive, industrial, aerospace/military, electronics, office automation and natural resources.

New Rhein Chemie Additive Business to Launch

LANXESS announced it will combine its Rubber Chemicals business unit's specialty chemicals product line, the Functional Chemicals business unit and the Rhein Chemie business unit to form the new Rhein Chemie Additives business unit. This new business unit is scheduled to be launched January 1, 2015.

ASTM International Launches New Committee on Industrial Biotechnology

ASTM International has approved the formation of a new committee on industrial biotechnology, Committee E62. Through its subcommittees, E62 will develop test methods, practices and terminology standards focusing on many aspects of industrial biotechnology. E62 will coordinate its activities with several ASTM committees, including D02 on Petroleum Products, Liquid Fuels and Lubricants.
