ENOC Opens Jebel Ali Lube Blending Plant

Dubai-based ENOC (Emirates National Oil Company) Lubricants & Grease has expanded its capacity through the opening of its second blending location in Jebel Ali, thus increasing its total production capacity to over 300,000 MT per year.

The ENOC Lubricants & Grease Manufacturing Plant (ELOMP) at Jebel Ali, located 35 kilometers southwest of Dubai, will complement ELOMP's existing lube manufacturing facility in Fujairah Port which is one of the largest of its kind in the Middle East and Africa. The expansion will further enhance ELOMP's tankage for storing raw materials and finished products and is aligned with ENOC 's strategy to expand operations in order to meet growing customer demand in local and export markets.

ELOMP's dedicated 5,000 square meter Jebel Ali manufacturing facility located within the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) adds to its overall production and sale capabilities currently supplied through its ELOMP Fujairah facility. The new Jebel Ali plant features the most advanced technologies including automated blending and metering systems.

Also given the day-time ban for land transportation, ELOMP's JAFZA facility will enable faster delivery to Abu Dhabi and Dubai customers.

Saif Al Falasi, Group Chief Executive, ENOC, said "Through our Jebel Ali plant, we are reiterating our trust in the continued diversification and potential for growth offered by expansion opportunities both in the UAE and other future locations overseas."

Al Falasi said that ELOMP will continue to serve as a key driver in ENOC 's expansion to new global markets. "Through our integrated approach to blending, analysis and filling, ELOMP manufactures a wide range of lubricants independently and caters to the needs of clients from over 60 countries in the Middle East region, Africa, South East Asia and the Indian Subcontinent," he continued.

The Jebel Ali plant will further assist in capacity expansion and improvement of efficiencies as the facility could extend its capacity from 12,000 MT to 35,000 MT per year. ELOMP can also widen its client base through offering alternative product formulations for its customers in addition to securing business deals.

ELOMP engages in the production and sale of synthetic (full & partial) motor oils, automotive gear oils, transmission fluids, brake fluids, grease and antifreeze. The plant can also blend specialty oils and industrial oils such as marine, railroad, hydraulic, turbine, and compressor oils.

ELOMP's in-house lab ensures quality control of blended lubricants and greases, conducts oil analysis, and undertakes product development work. The plant also features an excellent underground spill collection network.

Established in 1993 as a wholly-owned company of the Government of Dubai, ENOC aims to promote the interests of its shareholders through the development of further downstream and upstream activities in the oil & gas sector and beyond, and to encourage the economic diversification of Dubai and the rest of the UAE.

ENOC, which has invested $100 million to set up the two manufacturing facilities over the years, plans to continue to ramp up production by setting up plants in Africa and China.
