Expansion Projects Position Oronite for Growth

Chevron Oronite announced last week that it is steadily achieving milestones in four major capital projects. Collectively, these projects represent the company’s highest level of investment globally since the construction of its Singapore manufacturing facility in 1999 and also will significantly strengthen its supply chain and position Oronite for further growth. When combined with increases in technology investments that will help advance and differentiate its additive offerings, these initiatives will enable Oronite to better serve its customers worldwide.

“These investments form an integral part of our ongoing strategy to remain at the forefront of meeting lubricant additive demand for the next decade and beyond” said Ron Kiskis, president, Chevron Oronite.

The four projects include:

· The previously announced expansion of its Singapore manufacturing plant, which will have more than doubled in capacity since it was commissioned in 1999 when the project is completed in early 2014

· Further expansion of the Singapore manufacturing plant through a planned project, currently in the front-end engineering and design stage, to significantly increase Carboxylate detergent output

· A dispersant expansion at the company’s Gonfreville, France manufacturing plant, currently under construction and expected to be complete later this year

· Increasing detergent production capacity, also at the Gonfreville manufacturing plant, with a project that reached a final investment decision in February

Oronite’s three world-scale plants, which also include a facility in Belle Chase, Louisiana, are optimally positioned geographically because they are in or near the three major additive demand centers around the globe. The major investments in capacity expansion as well as in technological advancement will allow Oronite to continue effectively serving growing markets around the world and to continue providing differentiated engine oil additives for the foreseeable future.

“These initiatives are positioning us for growth and further enhancing our supply reliability with increased global flexibility to source critical components. They also will help enable us to provide differentiated products to our customers that leverage our expertise in component development and formulation innovation,” said Jirong Xiao, vice president, Chevron Oronite.

Headquartered in San Ramon, California, Chevron Oronite maintains three regional offices in Houston (Americas Region), Paris (Europe-Africa-Middle East Region), and Singapore (Asia-Pacific Region); manufacturing sites in Belle Chasse, Louisiana (USA), Gonfreville (France), Singapore, and Mauá (Brazil); an affiliated blending and shipping plant in Omaezaki, Japan; and affiliated sales and manufacturing operations in India and Mexico.
