In a letter dated May 2, 2014, Castrol Lubricants advised it would generally increase prices up to 4% on all Passenger Car, Commercial and ancillary products, including synthetics, in all package types, effective Monday June 16, 2014. Castrol went on to say that in some instances, price changes for certain products may fall outside of this general percentage amount.
In a letter dated May 2, 2014, Phillips 66 Lubricants advised its marketers it would raise finished lubricants prices 4% effective Monday, June 2, 2014. The company went on to say that depending on product-specific factors, prices for some products could fall outside this range. Phillips 66 stated in the letter that "this increase is being driven by recent increases in raw materials that have occurred despite our best efforts to limit their impact on our product manufacturing".
In a letter dated May 12, 2014 CAM2 announced a bulk and package price increase of generally 4-6% on all lubricants and greases with an effective date of June 2, 2014. Cam2 attributed the price increase to the escalation of raw material and freight costs.
In a letter dated May 16, Smitty's Supply announced it would be increasing the price of its finished lubricants by 4-6%, effective with orders placed on or after June 9, 2014. This increase will apply to all bulk and packaged lubricants and greases. The company attributed this price increase to the increases in raw materials used in the manufacturing of finished lubricants.
As previously reported, Valvoline, in a letter dated April 28, 2014, announced it will increase prices by up to 4% on Valvoline branded lubricant products effective June 2, 2013. ExxonMobil announced on April 25 that it will increase its branded and unbranded lubricant and grease prices by up to 4%, effective June 5, 2014. This followed the announcement by Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) on March 31 of a general price increase on lubricants of up to 4%, effective May 5, 2014.
