Phillips 66 stated in the letter that "this increase is being driven by recent increases in raw materials that have occurred despite our best efforts to limit their impact on our product manufacturing".

In a letter dated May 12, 2014 CAM2 announced a bulk and package price increase of generally 4-6% on all lubricants and greases with an effective date of June 2, 2014. Cam2 attributed the price increase to the escalation of raw material and freight costs.

In a letter dated May 16, Smitty's Supply announced it would be increasing the price of its finished lubricants by 4-6%, effective with orders placed on or after June 9, 2014. This increase will apply to all bulk and packaged lubricants and greases. The company attributed this price increase to the increases in raw materials used in the manufacturing of finished lubricants.
