Phillips 66, Castrol, Cam2, Smitty's Supply Announce Lube Price Increases

Last week, CAM2 announced a bulk and package price increase of generally 4-6% on all lubricants and greases, while Smitty's Supply announced it would be increasing the price of its finished lubricants by 4-6%. The previous week both Phillips 66 and Castrol announced lubricant price increases of generally up to 4%.

Infineum Opens New Salicylate Plant in Singapore

Infineum announced last Wednesday the opening of its new facility at its Jurong Island site in Singapore. The plant will manufacture calcium salicylate, a detergent component and a critical part of Infineum's top tier formulations. The facility marks the largest single investment Infineum has made to date and the first salicylate plant of its kind in Asia Pacific.

BASF and SINOPEC to Build New NPG Plant in Nanjing, China

BASF and SINOPEC have announced they will build a new world-scale production plant for Neopentylglycol (NPG), used in synthetic lubricants, at their state-of-the-art Verbund site, BASF-YPC Co., Ltd., a 50-50 joint venture in Nanjing, China. The plant, with a total annual capacity of about 40,000 metric tons, is planned to go on stream at the end of 2015.

FUCHS Acquires LUBRITENE Group's Business in South Africa and Australia

Mannheim, Germany-based FUCHS PETROLUB announced last week it has acquired the lubricants business of LUBRITENE and LUBRASA in South Africa and Australia. The LUBRITENE product range complements FUCHS' mining lubricants business while the LUBRASA activities will extend FUCHS' food grade product portfolio in Southern Africa.

ExxonMobil last Monday announced a new lubricants technology agreement with General Motors for the Chevrolet Corvette. Hyrax Oil to Build Sri Lanka Lube Blending Plant

Malaysia's Hyrax Oil Sdn. Bhd, will be building a lubricant blending plant in Sri Lanka, with an investment of 9 million US dollars. The plant, to be established in partnering with state-run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, which owns the largest fuel distribution network in the country, will cater to the local and international markets.
