Ford Motor Co. CK-4/FA-4 Position Statement

OEM/Lube News has been advised by Ford Motor Corporation that the company does not recommend the use of API CK-4 nor FA-4 oils in any of their diesel engines. Ford recommends oils that meet Ford Material Engineering Specification WSS-M2C171-F1, in lieu of CK-4.

HollyFrontier last Monday announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Petro-Canada Lubricants business for C$1.125 billion (approximately US$845 million), including working capital with an estimated value of C$342 million (or approximately US$257 million). Royal Dutch Shell last Tuesday reported third-quarter net income of $1.38 billion, on revenue of $61.86 billion in the period, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier. BP also last Tuesday reported third-quarter profit of $1.62 billion on revenue of $47.05 billion in the period.

Calumet Reports Improved 3Q2016 Results

Calumet Specialty Products Partners, L.P. last Thursday reported a net loss of $33.4 million compared to a net loss of $48.9 million in the same quarter in 2015. Specialty products segment, which includes lubricating oils, gross profit for the third quarter was $81.0 million compared to $89.0 million in the third quarter 2015.

Hascol to Build Lube Blending and Grease Plant

Karachi, Pakistan-based Hascol Petroleum Limited announced that its board of directors has approved the building of a lube oil blending and grease plant worth PKR 1.8 billion (US$17.2 million) with expected commissioning in two years.
