Afton Chemical's operating profit for the third quarter of 2016 was $106.4 million, a 5.8% increase over the third quarter last year of $100.5 million. Sales for the petroleum additives segment for the third quarter of 2016 were $512.4 million, down 4.4% versus the same period last year.

Sequentially, the major oil companies' third quarter earnings are better, but still down compared to the third quarter of 2015. Chevron reported earnings of $1.3 billion, down from $2.0 billion in the third quarter of 2015, while ExxonMobil reported estimated earnings of $2.7 billion, down from $4.2 billion.

Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited, a Hinduja Group company, last Wednesday inked an agreement with Indian motorcycle OEM Bajaj Auto Limited, one of world’s largest manufacturers of motorcycles, to manufacture engine oil for Bajaj motorcycles.

Chevron Belgium N.V. announced that it renewed its contract for European distribution with Multisol Group. Under the new agreement Multisol will distribute Chevron Group II premium base oils also in the Balkan countries of Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, and Slovakia.
