Mobil SHC Aware H Receives Denison Approvals

ExxonMobil Marine Fuels and Lubricants announced that, following extensive testing, it has gained OEM approval from Parker Hannifin Denison for its Mobil SHC Aware H series of hydraulic fluids. The Mobil SHC Aware H series of hydraulic fluids are now approved by Parker Hannifin Denison as HF1, HF2 and HF6 hydraulic oils.

Mobil SHC Aware H series of hydraulic fluids are designed to meet the requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants (EAL) as outlined in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP), and meet the VGP requirements for biodegrability, non-toxicity, and non-bioaccumlation.

"The receipt of these key hydraulic OEM approvals confirms that Mobil SHC Aware H series is not only compliant with environmental regulations, but it can also protect and optimise the performance of hydraulic systems operating in challenging environments," said Ray Pomfret, Global Marine Lubricants Sales Manager at Exxon Mobil.

Designed for hydraulic systems operating under high loads and pressures, the Mobil SHS Aware H series is said to feature strong load-carrying and anti-wear properties, as well as wide temperature range performance of -30° to +100°.

The lubricant series is said to be suitable for marine application such as in controllable pitch propellers (CPP) systems, fin stabilisers, hydraulic steering systems, and deck equipment where spills or leakage could result in harmful environment impact.

The new United States Vessel General Permit requirements came into effect on December 19, 2013.
