Malaysia's national oil company PETRONAS has signed an agreement with India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, a subsidiary of Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki, as their Genuine Lubricant Partner to supply customized "genuine" oils for Maruti Suzuki diesel vehicles.
Petronas has introduced PETRONAS Syntium 3000 SZ MGDO 5W40 oil specifically for Maruti Suzuki showing the Maruti Suzuki name and a Maruti Suzuki automobile on the bottle label. Please see picture below.
Through this partnership, PETRONAS would gain access to Maruti Suzuki's entire sales and service network besides also supplying its products in the bazaar trade, according to a release issued last Tuesday.
The tie-up would also give PETRONAS a huge reach since Maruti Suzuki has the largest network in the country with a total of more than 3,100 service outlets across India, the release said.
PETRONAS' Syntium 3000 SZ MGDO 5W40 is formulated for the latest generation of diesel engines and is especially designed for full service life in extended drain conditions. According to the company, the lubricant minimises oil thickening at very high operating temperatures, besides wear and tear which prolongs engine life as well as optimises the engine's performance besides minimises friction.
As of November 2012, Maruti Suzuki had a market share of 37% of the Indian passenger car market. Maruti Suzuki manufactures and sells a complete range of cars from the entry level Alto, to the hatchback Ritz, Celerio, A-Star, Swift, Wagon R, Zen and sedans DZire, Kizashi and SX4, in the 'C' segment Eeco, Omni, Multi Purpose vehicle Suzuki Ertiga and Sports Utility vehicle Grand Vitara.
