Chevron Oronite recently announced that OLOA® 46600 – a high-performance additive developed specifically for engines operating in landfill, biomass, and digester gas operations (i.e., low-methane, high-moisture, corrosive gases) – has been officially approved by GE Jenbacher for Type 2, 3, 4 and Type 6 engines operating on landfill gas (class C) or Biogas (class B) using Group II base oil.

After undergoing rigorous testing – over 30,000 hours – GE Jenbacher found that every one of the used oil analyses using OLOA 46600 showed positive results, making OLOA 46600 a broad solution for most engine types. “OLOA 46600 repeatedly demonstrates excellent performance, which is why Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) continue their approval of this Chevron Oronite product,” said Stephen Best, product line manager, America’s Region, Specialties and I.E.O., Chevron Oronite. “This is a clear demonstration that OLOA 46600 is leading performance in this segment. Compared to traditional landfill products our product handles the extreme variations of the gas and contaminants better. And because the performance is so good, our customers will benefit from the cost savings by being able to extend their drain intervals.”

In a previous statement, the company explained that OLOA 46600 was found to extend drain intervals up to 50 percent against several competitive products and Oronite’s prior technology, while reducing piston and combustion chamber deposits compared to traditional landfill gas engine oils. In other words, according to Oronite, finished oils formulated with OLOA 46600 represent a significant improvement because of the unique combination of modern, optimally balanced components that provide multiple performance advantages over other landfill lubricants.
