Detroit Diesel recently revised its Lubricating Oil, Fuel and Filters Brochure, DDC-SVC-BRO-0001. This publication specifies the type of lubricants, fuels, filters, and related maintenance intervals required for the diesel-fueled engines manufactured and marketed by Detroit(TM) and in particular applies to Series 60, Series 50, Series 55, Series 40, MBE 900, MBE 4000, DD13, DD15, and DD16 engines.

Shell Announces Finished Lube Price Increase
Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) announced last Monday a general price increase of up to 4% on its lubricants effective April 15, 2013. As a result of the recent increase in base oil prices, this may well indicate the beginning of another round of finished lube price increases after several oil companies announced price decreases late last year.

Brenntag to Acquire US Lubricants Distributor Lubrication Services, LLC (LSi)
Chemical distributor Brenntag, headquartered in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, has agreed to acquire the assets of Lubrication Services, LLC (LSi), a North American multi-regional distributor of lubricants and chemicals. The company is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and serves customers through a network of facilities in six US states.

Jiffy Lube Continues as Largest US Fast Oil Change Chain
National Oil & Lube News published a list of the top 54 US Fast Lube chains operating in 2013 in its March 2013 issue. Leading the list as number 1 is Jiffy Lube with 1,962 stores, all franchised. A distant second is Valvoline Instant Oil Change, with 896 stores of which 636 are franchised and 260 are independent/company owned. Pennzoil 10-Minute Oil Change follows at number 3 with 750 stores, all independently owned.
