TOTAL Lubricants has been appointed as the lubricant and coolants partner for First Bus, one of Britain's largest bus operators. The long-term mutual supplier agreement will see TOTAL supply both lubricants and coolants to the 6,200 strong First Bus fleet.
The agreement will see the supply of high-performance fuel economy engine and transmission oils which will optimise the maintenance of the First Bus fleet, improve the performance and lifespan of vehicles, and considerably reduce fuel consumption. The partnership will deliver a reduction in fuel costs across the whole fleet, and also impact positively on the environment.
TOTAL will also provide added value services including ANAC, its diagnostic system, which will check the condition of the lubricant and major vehicle components and calculate the real wear co-efficient to provide early warning of premature wear and maintenance issues which, if acted upon, will prolong the life of First Bus vehicles and reduce maintenance costs. In turn, the lifespan of equipment is increased, reliability is improved, and performance of equipment is optimised.
As part of the agreement, First Bus will also benefit from Visio Stock, an automated stock management system which, when fitted to storage tanks, will automatically monitor the level of lubricants. This enables First Bus to have greater visibility over stock ensuring it never runs out, increased traceability, future stock planning, eliminating overfilling, and management of working capital - all helping to keep the business running smoothly.
Susan Turnbull, UK Commercial Vehicle Manager at TOTAL Lubricants, comments, We are proud to have been appointed by First Bus. We will not just be supplying them with our high-quality lubricant and coolant products, but also our added value services to support their UK-wide fleet. The partnership means that we can help First Bus maintain its fleet with increased efficiency.
Giles Fearnley, Managing Director of First Bus, comments: We are pleased to be partnering with TOTAL. The team has extensive experience in assisting large fleets with high quality products and well also be supported by strong added-value services. In moving to TOTAL products, we expect to see a reduction in both our maintenance and fuel costs across our fleet, reinforcing our industry leading position on fuel-efficiency and vehicle emissions.
First Bus operates in a significant number of communities, including 40 of the countrys largest towns and cities and this new partnership will significantly build on TOTALs presence in the bus sector.
