The 12-chart series of the Sixth Edition of our Synthetic Industrial Lubricant Cross Reference Chart Series is now complete. This 12-set series consists of fully synthetic lubricants marketed by hundreds of worldwide lube manufacturing & marketing companies and industrial equipment OEMs.
Included with the 12-chart series of finished synthetic lubricants comprising our Sixth Edition of the Synthetic Industrial Lubricant Cross Reference Chart Series Book are the revised API Group IV (PAO) and API Group V (synthetics only) Basestock charts. The former, PAO basestocks, are presented this week, and the lengthy API Group V synthetic basestocks chart will be presented next week.
These revised basestock charts show the latest basestock cuts and names, along with the nominal, or typical, viscosities. Also, we have added the location of the refineries that produce these basestocks as well as any industry updates.
In addition to these viscosity changes and additional base oil cuts, a few of the other significant changes include the following: (1) ExxonMobil Chemical will decommercialize its SpectraSyn Ultra 150, 300 and 1000 on December 31, 2013, (2) ChevronPhillips listing now includes the PAO production at Beringen, Belgium purchased from Neste Oil in late 2011 and (3) Idemitsu Chemical, who previously produced its LINEALENE PAO at Chiba, Japan, has advised Lubrication Technologies, Inc, OEM/Lube News they have withdrawn from the PAO business.
The complete set of charts will be published in a digital Synthetic Lubricant Cross Reference Chart Book in early September.
