India-based Cetex Petrochemicals plans to expand its annual capacity by four-fold to 80,000 tonnes at a cost of Rs.400 crore (US$65 million). At present, Cextex produces 10,000 tonnes each of MEK and SBA, with an additional 10,000 tonnes being added. In addition, Cetex had acquired Shell Chemicals Houston plant, which would be dismantled and brought to India to produce 50,000 tonnes of petrochemicals.
