PETRONAS has announced the appointment of Mr. Giuseppe Darrigo as the new Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI).
Mr. Darrigo joined PLI in 2013, and is currently its Regional Head of Europe. He will assume all responsibilities as the new MD/CEO of PLI with effect from 1 March 2016, taking over from current MD/CEO Encik Amir Hamzah Azizan, whose tenure will expire at the end of February 2016.
Mr. Darrigo has close to 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining PLI, he served as General Manager of GE Oil & Gas in Milan for three years and also led the companys downstream business sales team for Europe.
He began his career in the industry with Shell, Milan where he served in a series of capacities in Operations and Strategic Marketing, Business Consultancy and Business Management in the downstream business across 20 countries. He left Shell in 2011 as the General Manager of the companys Italian Retail Business.
Encik Amir Hamzah is a prominent figure in the oil and gas industry. He spent the first 10 years of his career at the Shell Group of Companies prior to joining MISC Berhad, a member of the PETRONAS Group, in 2000. He held various management positions within MISC before assuming the role of its President/CEO in 2009. In 2010, he was appointed Managing Director/CEO of PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad and later served PETRONAS in various senior leadership roles prior to helming PLI.
