Prolec-GE announced that it has developed a new power transformer that utilizes a synthetic ester instead of traditional mineral oil, significantly reducing the risks associated with a potential transformer fire. The transformers were designed in collaboration with Comision Federal de Electricidad, Mexico’s national utility company.

Univar Inc. announced last Thursday that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Univar USA Inc., has acquired the assets of Copley, Ohio-based Chemical Associates, Inc., a marketer, manufacturer, and distributor of oleochemicals. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Royal Dutch Shell expects crude oil prices to recover gradually over the next five years, with Brent crude rising to $90 a barrel by 2020, according to a recent Reuters' article. In the nearer term, Shell expects Brent crude oil to show only a modest recovery with 2016 prices forecast to average $67 a barrel and $75 a barrel in 2017.
