Lubrizol® PV1119 Brings Market's First GF-5 Licensable Solution for LSPI and Chain Wear Protection

Lubrizol last Wednesday announced its new Lubrizol® PV1119 additive technology, providing protection against low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) and premature chain wear. Due to the delay with the introduction of ILSAC GF-6, Lubrizol realized it was critical that the market have a solution under the current GF-5 specification.

Afton Chemical 1Q 2017 Sales Up 6.7%

Sales for Afton Chemical for the first quarter of 2017 were $540.0 million, up 6.7% from 506.1 million in the same period last year. Operating profit for the first quarter of 2017 was $99.1 million, slightly lower than first quarter operating profit last year of $100.4 million.

ExxonMobil, Chevron, Phillips 66 Profits Up

Last Friday, ExxonMobil, Chevron and Phillips 66 announced first quarter 2017 earnings. ExxonMobil reported earnings of $4 billion compared with $1.8 billion a year earlier. Chevron reported earnings of $2.7 billion compared with a loss of $725 million in the 2016 first quarter. Refiner Phillips 66 reported earnings of $535 million, compared with $163 million in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Valvoline Reports 2Q 2017 Profit Growth; FUCHS Revenues and Earnings Up Double Digits

Valvoline last Tuesday reported that gross profit increased 3 percent to $198 million for the second fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2017. FUCHS PETROLUB reported it increased sales revenues by 12% to EUR 618 million compared with the 2016 quarter and said earnings improved by 11% to EUR 94 million.
