Chevron's White Oils and Food Machinery Lubricants Business Acquired by FUCHS

FUCHS PETROLUB announced last Tuesday that it is acquiring the worldwide white oils and food machinery specialty lubricants business of Chevron. The business will be integrated into FUCHS LUBRICANTS CO. (USA). The Chevron business had sales of EUR 11 (US$12.6) million in 2015, approximately 85% of which are in North America.

Shell's 1Q 2016 Net Earnings Fall 89%

Royal Dutch Shell reported last Wednesday first-quarter net income fell 89 percent from $4,430 million in the first quarter of 2015 to $484 million. Profit adjusted for changes in the value of inventories and excluding one-time items fell 58 percent to $1.55 billion from $3.74 billion in the same period of 2015.

Q8 Oils Opens New Lube Blending Plant in Antwerp

Q8 Oils, affiliate of Kuwait Petroleum International, officially opened its US$100 million state of the art blending plant in the port city of Antwerp in Belgium last Monday. The plant has a current capacity of 125 million litres of lubricants, fully scalable up to 250 million litres per year.

Calumet Reports 1Q 2016 Loss

Calumet Specialty Products Partners reported a quarterly net loss of $67.7 million last Thursday as first-quarter revenue dropped 29 percent, from $1.02 billion a year ago to $713 million this year. Calumet's quarterly net loss of $67.7 million compared with a net profit of $23.8 million in the same period of 2015.
