VW Diesel Cars Can Cheat European Emissions Tests Also

A laboratory test carried out for BBC Panorama shows that Volkswagen diesel cars programmed with a "defeat device" can cheat official European pollution tests, as well as tests in the US. The company says it is still yet to determine whether the cheating software even breaks the law in Europe. VW has confirmed that 8.5 million European cars have the software.

LyondellBasell Developing World's Largest PO/TBA Plant

LyondellBasell announced that it is advancing plans to build the world's largest propylene oxide and tertiary butyl alcohol plant in the Houston area. This project is part of LyondellBasell's previously announced $3 - $4 billion expansion effort that will take place over the next five years. TBA and its derivatives are used in manufacturing lubricant additives

Sri Lanka to Remove Lubricants From Restricted Import List

The Sri Lankan Government is proposing that lubricants be removed from the country's "negative list" of items that can be imported, ending the practice of forcing companies to get 'permission' from near monopoly lubricant sector players, before importing such. Presently the lubricant market is controlled only by a few companies.

PT Pertamina and Saudi Aramco Ink Agreement for Cilacap Refinery Upgrading Project

Indonesia's PT Pertamina and Saudi Aramco last Thursday announced they have signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) to formalize key business principles for joint ownership, operation and upgrade of the Cilacap Refinery located in Central Java, Indonesia. This upgrade is expected to increase lubricant base oil production.
