Afton Chemical Posts Strong Quarterly Performance
Afton Chemical had another strong quarterly performance as third quarter sales were $577.6 million, an improvement of 5.5 percent over sales for the same period last year of $547.7 million, while operating profit remained relatively consistent. Sales for the first nine months of this year were $1,717.3 million compared to sales in the first nine months of last year of $1,689.6 million.

FUCHS Opens New Blending Plant in Yingkou, China

Idemitsu Kosan Begins Blending and Sale of Lubricants from Its Plant in India
Tokyo-based Idemitsu Kosan announced last Wednesday that its wholly owned subsidiary Idemitsu Lube India Pvt Ltd., has begun blending and sale of genuine lube oils, following completion of its 70,000 kℓ/year lubricant blending plant in Maharashtra, India, Total construction cost of the 78,000 sq. meter facility was 2.6 billion rupees (approximately 4.7 billion yen).

Major Oil Company 3Q Profits Fall
ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, Chevron and Phillips 66 all reported lower third quarter earnings last week. Phillips 66 was the worst performer as earnings fell to $535 million, compared with earnings of $1.6 billion in the third quarter of 2012. Chevron fared the best of all these, reporting earnings last Friday of $5.0 billion for the third quarter 2013, compared with $5.3 billion in the 2012 third quarter

Total Inaugurates First Lubricants Blending Facility in Saudi Arabia's KAEC
Saudi Total Lubricants Co. (SATLUB) last Wednesday inaugurated its own state-of-the-art blending plant in the Industrial Valley in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), located 120 km north of Jeddah. The 65,000 square meter facility will produce automotive and industrial lubricants and will have an annual production capacity of 25,000 metric tons in a single shift.
