Oman Oil Company has agreed to buy German chemicals maker Oxea from buyout firm Advent International to expand into downstream activities. The companies declined to comment on the purchase price, but a source familiar with the matter said the deal was worth about 1.8 billion euros ($2.4 billion).

Century Refineries PVT. LTD., of Bengaluru, India, broke ground on a used lube oil re-refinery in Matagorda County, Texas. The plant will re-refine approximately 8 million gallons of used motor oil per year with output of 6.4 million gallons of VGO per year. .

Lubricants manufacturer and marketer Whitmore held its new facility grand opening and celebrated its 120th Anniversary recently. The expansion adds 127,000 square feet to the facility and more than doubles the overall size of the Company’s footprint in Rockwall, TX.

Chevron last Wednesday reported in its interim update that earnings for the third quarter 2013 are expected to be lower than in the second quarter. Upstream results for the third quarter are projected to be slightly higher than the prior quarter while downstream earnings are expected to be significantly lower.
