FUCHS PETROLUB last Thursday opened its new state of the art lubricant blending plant in Kaluga, Russia. The construction of the plant started in 2011 and within two years the facility was built. The total investment of the project amounted to more than EUR 15 (US$20.3) million.

Continuing with "Round 2" of price increase announcements this year, Valvoline announced it will increase prices up to 4% on branded and private label lubricant products effective October 7, 2013. Also, Phillips 66 Lubricants announced it will raise finished lubricants prices up to 3-4% effective Monday, October 7, 2013.

Environmental, energy and industrial services firm, Clean Harbors, last Monday announced that it has acquired Evergreen Oil out of bankruptcy through the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. Evergreen Oil is one of California's largest collectors of waste oil and runs the only re-refinery in the state.

INEOS Oligomers has selected Palmer Holland as their new U.S. distributor for their line of Indopol® polybutenes (PIB). Polybutenes are used in lubricants, adhesive and sealants, rubber compounding, surface coatings, personal care products, and pharmaceuticals.

Chemtura last Monday announced a price increase on its detergents products (Hybase®, Lobase®, Calcinate™, Barium®, Surchem®) of 11 cents per kilogram effective Sept. 20, 2013. On the same day, Chemtura also announced a price increase on its calcium sulfonate complex grease (G-2000 series) products of 11 cents per kilogram also effective Sept. 20, 2013.

ExxonMobil Marine Limited is introducing Mobil SHC Aware™, a new comprehensive series of synthetic, environmentally acceptable lubricants. Mobil SHC Aware lubricants meet the stringent requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants as outlined in the 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Last week, we advised that Siemens recently made major revisions to those oils manufactured/marketed by oil companies and approved for its Flender gear units. Siemens has advised OEM/Lube News that the link provided in our full story, while showing such revisions, did not show all the approved oils and has requested that we show the individual approval lists.
