Siemens Makes Major Revisions to Its Approved Gear Oils List

Siemens has recently made major revisions to those oils manufactured/ marketed by oil companies and approved for its Flender gear units, withdrawing many previously approved oil company brand gear oils and adding others to its approved oils list, as well as showing several oil names being changed.

Hydrodec Acquires Used Lube Oil Collector OSS

Used oil re-refiner, Hydrodec Group plc, has announced the acquisition of the principal business and assets of OSS for a purchase price of GBP4.65 (US$7.38) million in cash. The OSS business is the UK's largest collector, consolidator and processor of used lubricant oil and seller of processed fuel oil, processing approximately 60 million litres of used oil in 2012.

Shell Neft to Supply Lubes to Geely Motors in Russia

Shell Neft has signed a memorandum of understanding to supply lubricants to LLC Geely Motors, the exclusive Russian marketer of China's Geely cars. Under the five-year master supply agreement, Shell Helix and Shell Helix Ultra will be recommended for use in all models sold by Geely’s official dealers and service stations across Russia.

Hyundai Oilbank to Blend Finished Lubes

Hyundai Oilbank, South Korea's fourth-largest refiner, said that it has entered the lubricant market by launching a new brand of engine oil. The refiner said it will produce some 180,000 barrels of engine oil under the XTeer brand name by next year and sell these oils in both the domestic and overseas markets.

Infineum China Formally Registered as a Wholly Foreign-owned Enterprise

Shanghai Infineum has announced the establishment of its first wholly-owned enterprise in China, Infineum (Shanghai) Additives Co. Ltd., located in Infineum’s China Business and Technology Center, Pudong, Shanghai. This is the most significant change to Infineum’s structure in China since it opened its Beijing representative office in 1999.

Oxea to Raise NPG and 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid Prices

Oxea announced last week it will increase list and off-list prices on its Neopentyl Glycol (NPG) in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe and on its 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid in North America, Europe Middle East / Africa and Asia, all effective October 1, 2013. Both Neopentyl Glycol and 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid are commonly used in the manufacturing of lubricants.
