LLC Shell Neft signed a memorandum of understanding with LLC Geely Motors, the exclusive Russian marketer of Geely cars in Moscow on September 6, 2013. Geely Motors is interested in having a reliable supply of Shell lubricants across their dealer network in Russia, according to a statement by Shell. The signing of the 5 year master agreement is expected to take place before January 1, 2014.

According to the Memorandum, Shell Helix and Shell Helix Ultra lubricants are recommended for use in all Geely cars sold and serviced by official Geely dealers and service stations across Russia.

Under the Memorandum, Shell Neft and Geely Motors will carry out joint initiatives to promote sales of Geely cars, in particular Geely Emgrand, offering vehicle owners a new level of car service as part of the partnership programmes. The first joint initiative will be launched as early as on October 1. All buyers of Geely Emgrand will be offered special conditions when passing the initial car service during the first 45 days.

“The strategic partnership with Geely, a major car manufacturer, is aimed at satisfying the customer need for first class and easy service and high quality lubricants. In the future we look to offer all Geely dealers to switch to a range of Shell synthetic motor oils and transmission fluids to ensure a more efficient protection of car engine, transmission and other parts”, said William Kozik, General Director LLC Shell Neft.

Cooperation between Shell and Geely began in 2009, when the two companies signed a strategic partnership agreement in China. Today Shell is the leading supplier of “first fill” lubricants to all Geely car factories across China. In addition, Shell is the exclusive supplier of motor oils for Geely CNG and 4G15/18/13T engines and of brake fluids for all Geely models.
