Largest 100 Private Truck Fleets in North America Latest List Released

Transport Topics has issued its 2016 list of the 100 largest private trucking fleets (Pepsico, Sysco, Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, and Halliburton, in that order, are the top five again this year). Rounding out the top ten are U S Foods, Schlumberger, Reyes Holdings, Agium, and McLane, in that order. Companies are ranked by total number of tractors in the fleet, not revenue.

Two weeks ago, we presented the 100 largest for-hire trucking fleets in North America.

There are eight (8) new carriers on this year's private trucking list that were not on last year's list, those being (17) Monterrey, Mexico-based Femsa Logistica, (44) Miami, FL-based Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits, (62) Reading, PA-based Brenntag North America, (82) Lake Forest, IL-based Stericycle, (83) Draper, Utah-based Swire Coca-Cola USA, (88) St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, (95) Houston, TX-based Select Energy Services and (99) Phoenix, AZ-based Mobile Mini.

Norwell, MA-based waste oil collector and re-refiner Clean Harbors fell from number 17 on the list of the largest private fleets last year, to number 25 this year, while Downers Grove, IL-based specialty chemicals distributor Univar is number 49 this year, a slight drop from number 47 on last year's list. Nexeo Solutions, on the list at number 100 last year, fell out of the top 100.

The 2016 TRANSPORT TOPICS Top 100 Private Carriers lists is a project of Transport Topics Publishing Group and features data compiled from annual reports of publicly owned companies and directly from management of privately owned firms. The list ranks companies by the number of heavy-duty tractors they operate, using data from company management and government sources.

Also listed for each company are details such as address; officer(s); web site address; number of tractors, straight trucks, trailers and other equipment; annual sales or net income; employees; and description of business. Transport Topics publishes the Transport Topics 100 in order to accurately document the size and scope of the largest trucking operations and provide analysis of the trends shaping the industry.
