Caterpillar has revised its now 150 page Machine Fluids Recommendations Bulletin, SEBU6250 (now Rev 20), last revised in February 2013, which covers Caterpillar's most current recommendations and specifications for lubricants, fuels and cooling system fluids for use in Caterpillar machines. The lubricant section alone is 74 pages in length.

Gazprom Neft Lubricants and Rostselmash, one of the world's largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery, have launched the production of specialized oils under the brand Rostselmash G-Profi. In January of this year, Neft Lubricants and Rostselmash signed an agreement for the supply of factory fill lubes for assembly line production in Rostov-on-Don.

Chevron celebrated the completion of its Pascagoula Base Oil Project in Pascagoula, Miss. on August 21. The company invested $1.4 billion in this project which now positions Chevron as the world’s largest producer of premium base oil, nearly doubling the company’s capacity, including oils produced in Richmond, Calif., and a joint venture facility with GS Caltex in South Korea.

The CEO of New York Commercial Lubricants Inc., a Staten Island oil distribution company, was convicted last Thursday of grand larceny for scamming the Metropolitan Transit Authority by selling more than $800,000 worth of low quality transmission fluid for use in city buses and passing it off as Castrol Transynd.

LyondellBasell announced plans last Monday to build a world scale PO/TBA plant on the U.S. Gulf Coast with an annual capacity of 900 million pounds of propylene oxide (PO) and 2 billion pounds of tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) and its derivatives. TBA and its derivatives are used in high octane gasoline blending components as well as for use in manufacturing lubricant additives and synthetic rubber.
