ExxonMobil Breaks Ground on New Singapore Grease Plant

ExxonMobil has announced it will build a new grease plant at its Jurong facility in Singapore to meet the growing needs of its customers in the region. The company made the announcement last week at the China International Bearing Industry Exhibition in Shanghai. ExxonMobil officially broke ground for construction of the new plant, located next to its existing lubricant plant in Singapore, on September 9. Its completion is anticipated in 2016.

The facility will manufacture three key grease product families which are Mobilith SHC, Mobilgrease XHP and Mobilux.

“Singapore provides an ideal environment and the necessary infrastructure to continue to grow our business and manufacturing operations in Asia Pacific,” said Paul Grives, global services and grease marketing manager for ExxonMobil Fuels, Lubricants & Specialties Marketing Company. “The Jurong grease plant will integrate with our existing chemical and refining activities in Singapore, enabling us to deliver products that will best meet the needs of our customers throughout the region.”

“In Asia Pacific, particularly China, the demand for grease products is on the rise and this new plant will help position us to meet that increasing demand and contribute to the growth of the regional economy,” said Joanne Eu, Asia Pacific marketing manager, ExxonMobil Fuels, Lubricants & Specialties Marketing Company.

“We see great potential and opportunity in the region, and we are dedicated to applying our technical knowledge and product expertise for the benefit of meeting customer needs. For Singapore itself, the expansion project will create new jobs and opportunities in the industry.”

ExxonMobil has been actively growing its fuels and lubricants business in the region. It recently expanded its lubricant plants in Taicang and Tianjin, China and a new Signum laboratory at its Shanghai Technology Center.
