In a letter dated April 5, 2013, Chevron announced that it will increase the prices of all lubricating oils by 3% - 6% effective May 16, 2013. In certain instances, specific products may increase in amounts that are outside of this general increase.
In a letter dated April 8, 2013, Phillips 66 Lubricants announced that it will raise finished lubricants prices 4-5% effective Friday, May 17, 2013. Depending on product-specific factors, prices for some products could fall outside this range. Phillips 66 Lubricants went on to state that this increase is being driven by recent increases in raw material costs that have occurred despite its best efforts to limit their impact on its product manufacturing.
In a letter dated April 9, 2013, CITGO announced that it will implement a general price increase of 4% on list and customer specific prices effective with shipments occurring on and after May 15, 2013. There may be some instances in which specific product price changes may fall outside of the general increase. This change is applicable to CITGO, Mystik, Clarion, MileMaster and private label bulk and packaged finished lubricants, white oils and greases. CITGO stated "This increase is driven by escalations in base oil, additive and packaging material costs that have occurred over the past several months."
These announcements follow that of ExxonMobil and other recent price increase announcements by Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS), BP Castrol, Petro-Canada, CAM2, Smitty's Supply, Warren Oil, Amalie, Safety-Kleen and Old World Industries.
