On June 1, 2014, Cummins announced its intention to temporarily stop oil registrations for CES20074, CES20075, CES20076, CES20077, CES20078 and CES20081.
In July of this year, Cummins announced that its Oil Registration process had officially restarted effective July 1, 2015. At that time, Dan Nyman, Technical Advisor - Chemical Technology & Lubricants Performance Testing, Cummins Inc., Columbus, Indiana, told OEM/Lube News "All currently registered oils will have to be re-registered. This re-registration process is being done to accommodate the changes in the process and to weed out oils that are no longer in the market. Cummins registration program was developed to provide a list of fluids that meet our standard requirements to our customers. Changes were necessary to better insure our customers obtain approved fluids for their engines".
Cummins then received concerns from several companies that a previously advised October 2, 2015 deadline cant be met because of the number of products to be re-registered and the additional information that is now being required by San Antonio, Texas-based consulting and testing firm TEI (Test Engineering Inc.) and Cummins for re-registration. To assist with this issue, Cummins announced it will extend the re-registration date for all products that were registered before January 1, 2013 to December 2, 2015 for each company that meets requested registration requirements.

Cummins also received concerns from several companies that have currently registered CJ-4 products both before and after January 1, 2013 that will be off the market by the end of 2016 and will no longer be produced in the global market. To assist with this issue, Cummins said it will extend the registration date to December 2, 2016 for all current CJ-4 registered products for each company that meets requested registration requirements.
