Singapore Lube Park - Shell, Sinopec and Total Shared Lubricants Facility - Opens

Located in Tuas, in southwestern Singapore, Singapore Lube Park, the first shared lubricants facility in the Asia-Pacific, opened last Thursday. Estimated to cost approximately a half a billion dollars, the Lube Park is a joint venture between Shell Eastern Petroleum, Sinopec Lubricant (Singapore) and Total Oil Asia-Pacific.

Rhein Chemie Expands Its Industrial Lubricant Additives Business

LANXESS' Rhein Chemie Additives business unit has expanded its capacities for light-colored sulfur carriers at its sites in Mannheim, Germany, and Kallo, Belgium. Light-colored sulfur carriers are used as additives in formulating metalworking fluids and gear oils that ensure good lubrication between metal surfaces at very high pressures.

LUKOIL Launches Construction of 100,000 tpa Lubricants Blending Plant in Kazakhstan

An official groundbreaking ceremony for a new lube blending plant of PJSC LUKOIL, Russia's largest private oil company, was held on March 19 in Kazakhstan. The capacity of the plant, which will be completed in 2016, will be 100,000 tons a year with an option to increase output up to 130,000 tons a year.

Uz Prista Recycling Plant Opens in Uzbekistan

A used oil recycling plant, 'Prista Recycling', opened recently in Uzbekistan. The project, a result of the joint venture 'Uz - Prista Recycling', includes Bulgarian company 'Prista Recycling' with 51% and 'Uznefteprodukt' with 49%. The plant is designed to process 40 000 tons of waste oil annually, producing up to 30 000 tons of fresh base oils.

ExxonMobil Develops Mobil SHC Gargoyle 80 POE for Refrigeration Compressors Using Carbon Dioxide Refrigerant

ExxonMobil has developed a new lubricant for refrigeration compressors using carbon dioxide. Formulated using a polyol ester technology (POE), Mobil SHC Gargoyle 80 POE aims to takes advantage of the growing use of carbon dioxide as a refrigerant. ExxonMobil predicts carbon dioxide will be one of the main industrial refrigerants by 2020.

Subaru to Settle Over Motor Oil Problems

Subaru of America has agreed to resolve a claim that alleges certain Subaru vehicles may experience oil consumption "beyond expectation". The company has extended the powertrain warranty from 5 years, 60,000 miles to 8 years, 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, for 665,730 Subaru models from 2011 to 2015.
