Caterpillar Revises Its Machine Fluids Recommendations Bulletin

Caterpillar has revised its Machine Fluids Recommendations Bulletin, SEBU6250 (now Rev 23) which covers Caterpillar's most current recommendations and specifications for lubricants, fuels and cooling system fluids for use in Caterpillar machines. The primary change in this revision, now 154 pages, is to address the use of API CK-4 oils.

Calumet Launches Group III Base Oil

Calumet announced last Monday the launch of CALPAR 4GIII, the Company's first API Group III synthetic base oil. Calumet Shreveport is the only U.S. base oil refinery with Group I, II, and III production. Calumet also produces Group V (naphthenic) base oil.

BP 1Q Profit Triples; Shell Earnings Double

BP last Tuesday reported an underlying Replacement Cost profit for the first quarter of $1,510 million, compared with $532 million for the same period in 2016. Shell last Thursday reported that first quarter 2017 earnings on a current cost of supply basis rose to $3.75 billion from $1.55 billion in the same period last year.

Calumet Reports Significantly Improved 1Q 2017 Financial Results

Calumet Specialty Products Partners last Thursday reported a net loss of $6.2 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2017 compared with a net loss of $67.7 million in the first quarter 2016, and an adjusted EBITDA of $78.7 million for the first quarter compared with an adjusted EBITDA of $6.6 million the previous year.
